Who The Fuck is that Bitch!

Bitches, mean girls, bullies, bougie, divas. Whatever you call the one chick or group of chicks that thrive on being grimy, you know them. You might even be one. But for whatever the reason having a real bitch makes the story. It’s a luv/hate relationship.

Now let me explain something, there are different levels of having a bitch in your story. First of all don’t put one in the storyline just because. You will make the reader get off track and as a writer you can get off track as well. I always go into each scene asking myself will this scene enhance what the story is trying to accomplish. Does it push it to the next level? If it don’t then I will do a Keyshia Cole and let it go. Picture that character obsolete, how do the story flow, if at all; then you will know if you should keep them or fire them.

Ok so what makes a bitch, a bitch? Many people have different views or definition of what a bitch is. In the hip hop game a bitch can be an annoying groupie or a female who refuses to do what the artist want them to do (usually sexual favors). On the flip side a female rapper will embrace being a bitch. In their heads a bitch is someone who is the head boss! She runs everything and does it flawlessly and is superb at what she do.

Many other characteristics that describes a bitch whether good or bad: demanding, moody, vindictive, grimy, soulless, blunt, independent, bossy, non-apologizing, sexually driven, etc. Whatever your purpose is for your bitch, don’t let her go in half-steppin’. There is nothing more irritating when the chick that is supposed to play a bitch is lukewarm. This is a fictional story so do what you want; nothing is off limits!

Misconceptions of a Bitch

Another thing, a woman who at one point or another gets in a situation and does something like cuss a person out or hit someone does not qualify as being a tru bitch. She’s just having a bad day or moment. Everyone has those days.

Being a bitch doesn’t mean that she cusses like a sailor. Every other word doesn’t have to be fuck, bitch, mu’fucka or shit. If that is how your character wants to talk and it will enhance the story, do you.

A bitch is not always angry. Then why call her a bitch if she is not always angry? To me, and this is only my opinion, a tru bitch is not driven by emotions – anger being the main one. Any time emotions are involved or not contained that female will slip. This may be good for the end of the story but if you make your bitch emotionally attached or driven prematurely, your story will become dull. Even if she is vindictive, blunt or vengeful in order to remain that bitch emotions need to be separated from any move she needs to make. She can rob you, or shoot you in your ass and will sport the biggest kool-aid smile while she’s doing it. You feel me?

What to do With a Lackluster Bitch.

This could go with any character but considering this post is focusing on bitches I’m gone keep it on them. If your bitch is boring, stagnant or becoming soft put her in an uncomfortable situation. I guarantee that sparks and dynamite will go off.

For example, say your bitch has a high power position at a company. Obviously she is a power hungry heifa and will do anything, step on her own mama’s feet to keep that position. Ok well let her lose that position. What will she do to get that back? Include her into a scandal. Or put her in a ‘normal’ person’s shoes and make her pregnant. Anything that snatches her power away from her will work. It will be like oil and water mixing together.

How to Tell If Your Bitch is Overpowering Your Story

1)      If you get to the end and forget the purpose of the story because she has been running it, she’s overpowering it.

2)      If your other characters can’t function properly without your bitch, guess what? She’s overpowering it.

3)      If you are exhausted as hell, with your bitch, she’s gotta go!

4)      Again if your bitch does nothing to enhance your story either tweak her character so that she is or fire her!

Creating a bitch character should be fun not stressful. Unlike real life you have control over your bitch. You can dismiss her if you want, kill her in the story, whatever floats your boat. Make sure your bitch is believable.

Peace and Luv!
