Just Because You’re Black Doesn’t Mean You’re Going To Always Write About ‘Black’ Things.

This is interesting to me. Why, because no other race do this. People automatically assume that if your a black writer you only write about ‘the streets’, uh-no. We are intelligent enuf to write about other ish. Or if you are a blogger it’s about what effects blacks specifically. We take off those rose colored glasses too.

I don’t know if I want to get mad or feel disturbed; shit probably both. I don’t even know why we have to be categorized in that way. Or what do we have to do to wipe that stigma off of us either. Is it even possible to do that? And how does that affect our writing future? Well a lot of traditional publishing may not touch us because of the assumptions. You cannot tell me you don’t know when you’re reading something whether a black person. That is not a bad thing, I’m just saying.

But really – all black people do not write the same thing.

Peace and luv!
