Afictionado will be launched in January of 2012. Their website afictionado.mpstechnologies.com gives you a feel for the concept and what will be offered but let me give you a quick overview.
Afictionado allows owners of many reading devices to sample chapters of eBooks and if they enjoy it they can be lent out for 2 weeks and after the 2 weeks it is automatically taken off of your reading device by a sophisticated program. 2 levels of membership is offered. The first allows a reader to borrow up to 2 eBooks; the premium allows a reader to borrow up to 4 ebooks.
Publishers will have the opportunity to use Afictionado too. What is being said they are committed to UK publishers; I’m not sure if US publishing houses will be able to capitalize however I don’t see why not. Email email@example.com to get a publishers’ guide.
If you are itching to get first dibs on this subscription you can ask for a guaranteed membership by either becoming a fan of Afictionado on FB, following them on Twitter or sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting priority membership.
Peace and luv!
