Amazon or Afictionado?

Recently I did a post on Amazon starting a subscription service similar to Netflix only with eBooks. Now there will be another group doing the same thing.

Afictionado will be launched in January of 2012. Their website afictionado.mpstechnologies.com gives you a feel for the concept and what will be offered but let me give you a quick overview.

Afictionado allows owners of many reading devices to sample chapters of eBooks and if they enjoy it they can be lent out for 2 weeks and after the 2 weeks it is automatically taken off of your reading device by a sophisticated program. 2 levels of membership is offered. The first allows a reader to borrow up to 2 eBooks; the premium allows a reader to borrow up to 4 ebooks.

Publishers will have the opportunity to use Afictionado too. What is being said they are committed to UK publishers; I’m not sure if US publishing houses will be able to capitalize however I don’t see why not. Email publishers@afictionado.com to get a publishers’ guide.

If you are itching to get first dibs on this subscription you can ask for a guaranteed membership by either becoming a fan of Afictionado on FB, following them on Twitter or sending an email to memberships@afictionado.com requesting priority membership.

Peace and luv!
