I just wrote on this a few days ago but apparently I didn’t dig deep enough before I wrote my post (curse you Perry the Platypus!). Author Joe Konrath did a post about Book Country. This author of thrillers have published over 500,000 copies of his works in ebook formats. And he wants to warn new authors about this new way to publish their work. He goes on to say that writers would have to pay a fee to upload their work. Why would you do that when there are plenty of sites that does it for free? Createspace, Smashwords, Kindle just to name a few.
Second the people of Penguin (who runs Book Country) will keep 30% of the royalties your book earns. Oh and they keep all rights to your work!
At least getting your work critiqued is free; at least for now.
Peace and luv!
