Even though I am going the self publishing route that doesn’t mean you and everybody else has to. I still want beginning writers to weigh in on all of their publishing options and it’s my job to do that for you.
I came across a publishing house that is trying to change the face of digital and traditional publishing. Stay Thirsty Publishing (I’m digging the name by the way) was created not too long ago. They have an imprint under Stay Thirsty called Schiller & Wells, Ltd. It is for new authors who write fiction, non-fiction, and scholarly work. There’s no need to be an agented author. Now in the publishing world it is hard for a new writer to make their mark. Traditional publishers are real sketchy with bringing them into their family without a strong following. They wanna know they will go the extra mile to market themselves and nourish a brand. They don’t want someone they have to hold hands with thru the whole process. And they definitely will not give six figure advances to them because they may not make enough sales to get that back. Damn fickle publishing!
I had to explain that because Schiller & Wells, Ltd requires the debut authors to pay a small portion of the bill in order to get published however they go on to say the majority of the bill they will pay themselves.
What they offer is feature stories, author interviews, news stories, author byline columns and publicity outreach. To submit you must email first 2 chapters, brief synopsis, resume and a cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org
Peace and luv!
