Somewhere in between my generation and the generations after me kids have lost their desire to read. And why not? Everything is tech based so why would you expect a child to pick up a heavy book and read? The enthusiasm is gone and it’s imperative we get it back to them. Luckily my kids love to read because they always see me with a book or a pad of paper writing a book. Some positives to kids reading:
- higher test/homework scores
- confidence in other subjects rises
- problem solving skills &
- social skills
On the website Nannypro.com their belief is that in order for kids to become excited again about reading let them read stories that they are interested in. I could not agree with them more. They’ve compiled a list of 10 books that may get your kids creative minds rolling again so they will make it an enjoyable habit to read again. Check some of those books out here:
- Killing Lincoln
- Being George Washington
- Harry Potter (duh, wouldn’t be a list without this series)
- Just So Stories
- The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (luv, luv, luv)
Here’s the link
to see the rest of the list and browse around too! Are there any books you enjoyed when you were a kid?
Peace & luv!
