Starting March 29th the National Black Writers Conference will go down. It ends on April 1st (no this is not an April Fool’s joke). This conference is said to provide writers, scholars, literary professionals, students, and public with a forum for engaging in dynamic and conversations, panel discussions, reading, workshops and performances on themes related to migration, cultural memory, popular culture and the natural environment. The Honorary Chair will be Myrlie Evers-Williams. The Honorees are Ishmael Reed for the John Oliver Killens Literature Achievement Award – Ngugi Wa Thiong for the W.E.B. DuBois Award – Nikki Giovanni (whom I luv!) for the Gwendolyn Brooks award and Dr. Howard Dodson for the Ida B. Wells Institutional Leadership Award.

Visit nationalblackwritersconference.org website or the African American Literary Book Club’s website for rates and dates.

Peace and luv!
